I’ve fallen in love with the cherry blossom in recent months… it’s the beautiful symbol of new life… quite literally, it announces spring’s entrance each year. But when I looked up information on it some months ago, I discovered the Japanese honor it as a symbol of death & the brevity of life. I fell in love with it even more- new beginnings & deaths are each other’s favorite dance partners.
Each moment, each breath is new life and then a death.
We hold it.
We let it go.
Life is this dance, and nature often teaches us how to live. We celebrate and marvel in the beauty of the cherry blossom, and she dies quickly and comes again in the summer looking new, and we celebrate her again.
